Nuclear Radiation Detection Devices

ITS Plus manufactures a nuclear detection device that may be added to the existing ITS Plus Sensor Platform. This cost effective device has a small footprint and 150 foot operating radius.

The device is small enough to be placed at a toll booth station, border crossing gate, security station for a bridge, etc. When looking to protect a power plant, government building, miltary base, or other high risk environment, the best installation should include complete perimeter coverage. Just imagine safer airports, harbors, ports, and fuel depots.

The detectors may be ordered in a variety of configurations to detect and identify various types of radiation that are considered threats to public safety and homeland security. The best configuration is a combination of a scintilation device (for gamma radiation) plus a probe unit (for neutron radiation), coupled with the ITS Plus video surveillance cameras. This combination can minimize false positives.

Sensitivity for both detectors is adjustable and permits 99 user-selectable settings. These may be set according to the specific application and to elimiate background radiation readings. The system is optimized to detect the most common high risk radioactive elements* used to build dirty bombs and suit case nukes.

Should an event occur in an area not covered by the ITS Plus nuclear radiation detection system, these easy to install devices may also be used to determine radiation fall out clouds and provide emergency managment teams with safe evacuation corridors.

Nuclear Sensor Options

Low Gamma Radiation Detection - for the detection of a contaminated person who could have been building a dirty bomb or trace elements remaining from the inappropriate handling of radioactive elements

High Gamma Radiation Detection - for the detecting sufficient radioactive elements in a dirty bomb

Neutron Radiation Detection - for detecting Uranium or Plutonium elements used in building a suit case nuke

* Based on both the radioactivity and relative prevalence of the most common high risk elements.  These elements include: Americium 241, Californium 252, Cesium 137, Cobalt 60, Iridium 192, Radium 226 and Strontium 90.
